Part 1 Exercises

Developing a Growth Mindset

Have you ever been faced with a problem you can't solve? Maybe in school, while at work, or in your personal life? Unfortunately, challenges and difficulties we cannot solve occur in all aspects of our lives, and often, we have little control over them occurring. However, we have control over how we view these challenges. Dr. Carol Dweck discusses her "growth mindset" research in this video.

Reflection

Take notice of how you focus on success and failures. If you make a mistake, do you think you can't grow from it, or does it define your capabilities? Alternatively, do you consider it part of your learning process or look at working harder to overcome the initial outcome? These performance views provide insights into which mindset you tend to lean into when facing setbacks.
